What a view! A great backdrop shot of Pikes Peak from the 18th fairway, from the parking lot at Patty Jewett, spring of 2004. Opening in 1898, the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi has some great scenery of the Pikes Peak region. The course is a favorite of residents.

This is one of the best muni-courses you’ll ever play. Very well maintained and fun to play. Although play is slow…5+ hours on a weekend is very common. Marshal’s are ornamental, like most customer-friendly muni-courses.
BUT – it’s not the oldest course west of the Mississippi. It’s the 3rd behind (1)Mare Island Golf Course in Vallejo, CA in 1892, then (2) Overland Park in Denver, CO in 1895. (3)Patty Jewett was built in 1898.
The views are gorgeous and there and 27 holes to choose from. A must play public course in Colorado Springs!
